Have
you ever cooked with a digital wireless thermometer? Well, if not,
it is about time you did. No, this article is not the basis of an
infomercial – I am not promoting one particular digital wireless
thermometer. Rather, I am promoting digital wireless thermometers
as a whole.
After all, ever since I have started using my digital wireless
thermometer (I will leave the name brand and model out of this),
my cooking has greatly improved. My cooking has improved both in
terms of ease and quality. Even my family has noticed the difference!
So, why has my digital wireless thermometer made such a difference
in my life? To be quite honest, I have always been a fan of using
thermometers when cooking meats – I have always been a bit
on the paranoid side when it comes to E. Coli, Salmonella, and harmful
bacteria. In fact, before I started using cooking thermometers,
I was known to burn more than one meat dish, just to make sure it
was thoroughly and safely cooked.
Of course, as you likely already know, using any type of cooking
thermometer, not just a digital wireless thermometer, will help
you confirm whether or not a meat dish is cooked to the right and
safe temperature. But there are a few problems with some of these
other thermometers:
• Infrared thermometers are not quite as precise
• To get readings off of some cooking thermometers, you
must open the oven – every time you open the oven, you lose
valuable heat, increasing your cooking time.
• With those same thermometers, another problem is that
you have to gauge perfectly when to check the temperature again
– if it was just two degrees off last time you checked it,
do you need to check it again in 1 minute or 10 minutes? And what
if you forget to check it again?
• There are, of course, some cooking thermometers that have
a probe that is inserted into your meat and a wire that connects
the probe to an out-of-oven display. These cooking thermometers
allow you to check the temperature of you meat without having
to lose valuable heat. But, again, what if you forget to check
it? And you do not want to have to station yourself outside your
oven, just so that you can get great meat.
• Most digital wireless thermometers have a remote of some
sort. When you have a remote, you can continue about making the
rest of your dinner or picking up your house or reading your book.
You can rest easy, knowing that your remote will page you or let
you know in some way that your meat is done. It is so easy!
• It is easy to tell what the temperature is when you use
a digital wireless thermometer – it is displayed in big
numbers: you do not have to try and read a dial. You can tell
what the exact temperature is, with ease.
